NYC Hot Spots

This survey was taken in 2003.  We have not updated it since then, but we are planning on re-launching this survey in the future.

We are often asked by our viewers to recommend the hottest spots in town.  To help us answer that question, we have created a panel of experts that we will poll once a month to provide you with a listing of some of New York's hottest places to be.  We asked over 70 members of the nightlife community the following question:
What are the hottest spots to go to in New York right now?
(If you were entertaining your hippest friends from out of town for the week, where would you take them?)

So here it is, our bi-monthly MurphGuide Hot Spots rankings. Cheers, Murph.

Hot Spots Poll
September 2003

1. Plaid
76 E. 13th St. (between 4th Ave.& Broadway)
"From the creators of Life and Spa.  You will find a combination of downtown hipsters, fashionistas, and uptown socialites looking to dance until the wee
hours of the morning." - Marcos Rollan, Ambiance by Rollan

2.  Show
135 W. 41st. St. (between Sixth & Broadway)

Thursday nights average close to 1,000 people.  Friday nights boasts supermodels (Adrianna Lima, etc.), industry VIPS (ID Models owner Paolo
Zampoli, etc.), celebrities (Britney, Ice T, etc.) & models actually paying to get through the door.  Dancers, pole dancers, trapeze artists & percussion teams round out the best Show In Town. - Ruben of Rogue Nights

3. Suede

161 W. 23rd St. (between Sixth & Seventh Ave.)
Riddle me this:  Why has Justin Timberlake & Cameron Diaz dropped by this
visited this venue this August at least twice in one week?  Riddle me second:  Why have they been joined by Christina Aguilera, Drew Barrymore, Danny Masterson & others at least once? -Ruben, Rogue Nights

4.  APT
419 W. 13th St. (10th Ave.)
Sunday Nights.  Crowded, Beautiful and Fun.  Music couldn't get any better.

- DJ Ruby Soho, Rumor Productions

5.  The Coral Room
512 W. 29th St. (Tenth Ave.)
"Good music, coral-lined walls and live mermaids swimming in a 9,000 gallon
tank make for a fin-tastic time." - Jeff Strank - Netparty

6. Deep
16 W. 22nd St. (between Fifth & Sixth Ave.)

The club formerly known as OHM.  Why is it hot? Because it's a brand, new club opening. And brand new clubs opening are typically hot spots. Whether they remain hot or not is another issue. -Ruben, Rogue Nights

7.  Bungalow 8
515 W. 27th St. (between 10th & 11th Ave.)

HANDS DOWN! Unquestionably the most fun and hottest place in NYC, if not the world. Celebrities, models, socialites unite to sip famous watermelon martinis or munch on a incomparable lobster club sandwich or grilled cheese. Also features some of the best DJs. If you don't know the doorman, don't bother trying to get in, as you will be sent home. - Adam Alpert of The CASE Group

8.  Capitale
130 Grand St. (Bowery)

Every Saturday this Summer, Capitale's 2 Star restaurant crowd mingles with the promoting team that has promoted 2 other successful weekly parties in Thursdays at Suede & Fridays at Show.  Throw in one of the nicest staff put together (from the security to the manager) and you have a solid, well-run party.  Say hi to Bart, Capitale's head waiter, who has served Jackie O at Studio 54 and raver kids at Exit, as well as being featured in a pictorial in last month's Italian Vogue.
-Ruben, Rogue Nights

Like Miami's Delano Hotel in NYC. White plush decor and a fantastic dinner menu as well. The "in" spots for high profile events. - Adam Alpert of The CASE Group
