Comments - A 'road
house' with a somewhat trashy, potentially dangerous crowd. The
walls are decorated with license plates of many states. (I
suspect that some of the patrons are former license plate
makers). Also, a replica of the Chevron gasoline logo. Pool
table, TV's video games, jukebox. The female bartender was
friendly and efficient. Reasonable prices. Bathrooms are adequate. - T.K.
Who doesn't like "The Honeymooners"? And thusly-you'll
fit right in. Talking is easy with any patron or bartender, as
people know this isn't a place you try to impress or fight in -
the biker/bouncer outside sees to that. Good beer prices, and
plenty of grime to keep you humble. - J.S.A.
A dive bar, but one great dive bar! Reasonable prices and friendly barmaids. Worth checking out, you never know who you might meet in here! - B.C.
Great place to hang out. No pretentious idiots out to ruin other people's night by trying to prove something. Just a mix of patrons wanting nothing more than to enjoy a beer in a relaxed atmosphere. Service is quick and very friendly. Bathrooms in the basement aren't the best, but could be a lot worse...at least it's somewhere to go once you've broken the seal. - D.N.

Comments - Hey If your lookin' to pose this is not the place to go, but if you enjoy
drinkin' with a good feeling of camaraderie and enjoy straight talkin' folks
you'd probably feel quite at home. The way I think of it is, you can put your
cigarette out on the floor and no one will even look at you. Just leave the
bulls**t at the door and you'll have a great time. P.S. the sign on the wall is
authentic and its the old Mobile gas stations Pegasus. - NYD

Comments -The Bar
is small and on the second floor above a another bar. It is a
quiet bar on the weekdays. Saturday nights there is a $10
special, all the Buds and Coors Lights you can drink from
10pm-1am. There is a jukebox with mainly classic rock and a few
CDs of hip hop and dance music. There is a pool table and a dart
board. It is a bar with the same crowd of people in the
community. - I.P.
Great specials and fine music ... they have a dart board and a
pool table ... not a wide selection .. mostly bottled domestic
beer ... no tap beer ... very few imports. - R.B.
Last time I was there is when the Reegans owned it, a great place
with friendly bartenders. - S.O.
Recent change of ownership really cleared the place out. The
bathrooms are still too small, and the lighting is still too
dark. Pretty cheap for beers, though, and they are bringing in
taps. - M.O.

Yorkville neighborhood bar and restaurant with the friendliest
bartenders and wait staff. Darkness and sawdusted floors give the
bar a cozy, old town feel to it. A good place to relax and have a
drink, and/or grab something to eat. - S.M.

Comments - Formerly called Sag Harbor, the interior of this place is completed painted red. It seems to draw a hip, thirtysomething clientele. The happy hour is called the
"hot hour" from 7:30 to 10:30 nightly, featuring $1 drafts & house wines, $5 cosmopolitans. The service was good. There is a fairly long bar and several cocktail/dining tables. The music was not unbearably loud. The bathrooms are more than adequate. -

911 - I've been robbed ($6 for a bottle of Coors Light). Some
after-work drinkers, but mostly people waiting to dine in the
restaurant. Multi-level dining areas. Very elitist attitude from
the staff and patrons. 'Dancing shrimp' is a rotating model.
Bathrooms are good (it's a decent restaurant). - T.K.
The Redeye is a popular bar and shrimp restaurant near Carnegie
Hall that has been drawing big crowds since opening in Fall
96. Spacious, high ceiling interior on a corner spot. Small
bar area, serving high priced drinks, can get crowded. - S.M.
Tempted to say it should be called 'Browneye', but will resist.
High-priced corpo-rama mediocrity. Everything was okay, but the
prices should have produced better. Go here if you're a tourist
and too old for the Hard Rock. Oh, they have a bar, right? - S.G.

Live music on the Bleecker Street strip. Large English
style pub with room at the bar, or at tables in front of the
stage, which often hosts cover bands. Darts in the rear.
They serves food and a cover charge applies on weekends.
They also sponsor a rugby club. - S.M.
This is a great bar for a night out with a few friends. They have
four live bands every night. Tommy and Dave, the bartenders, are
really cute. They love to talk about their native Ireland and
tell tall tales of love lost and won. Dave says Puff Daddy is a
regular but Jennifer has not been in yet. - D.M.

Comments: Some of
the best free entertainment in the city, bartender(ettes) will
blow fire and pour shots down your throat from atop the bar. They
use the bar like a dance runway. Cheap drinks. - J.D.

Would rate it a 9 if I had a Harley, but if the men's room was
co-ed, this might be 0 for some. - P.A.
A biker bar in west Chelsea. What it lacks in decor, it makes up
for in anything-goes debauchery. Raucous fun from the pretty
young female bartenders dancing on the bar in their Daisy Duke
shorts, to the hula-hoops passed out to patrons, to the drink
specials. Some examples: The Tonya Harding: Canadian Club on ice
(must drink w/open shoe laces). The Al Bundy: A shot of Turkey
and a can of Black Label. Yes, this place serves cans of Black
Label! The Anna Nicole Smith: Goldschlager (gold digger) on
the rocks (served with cheese doodles and a pre-nup). Even the
bumper stickers on the walls will make you smile: "Jesus
loves you (everyone else thinks youre an asshole)."
"Guns dont kill people, postal workers kill
people". Cheers! - S.M.
Free entertainment, cheap booze, fun crowd and the most gorgeous

When you go to RR
youre going for the fun,
entertaining atmosphere! - J.R.
This bar was absolutely horrible. I would only recommend it if
you want to get really drunk and fight with old men that ride
motorcycles and think that they are cool. - J.R.(2)
By far the best bar in NYC...all the girls are worth visiting! -
T.L.H.
I have to give this bar all
tens. This is the best bar I have ever been to. I've been
overseas and I have never had this much fun. God Bless the
GIRLS. - A.M.
I have frequented many bars in the past, and have even bartended
for 2 years at a bar on your list of "Bars of the
Week", yet I am writing to say that Red Rock West, as
interesting as it might seem does not deserve to be on your list.
After going there once drinking and tipping well, I decided to go
again with a different group of friends who happened to be
African-American. From the minute we walked in the door to
the minute we were thrown out without any explanation (about 15
minutes later) all eyes were glued to us as if we were doing
something wrong. I have never been treated that way in a bar
before, and will never go back there again, and I urge you not to
as well. - J.W.
Well, this place definitely has atmosphere. Being a chick, I have
to say it has atmosphere, but, I would only recommend it to my
horny male friends (is that redundant). It's one of those
"you have to go there once" places. I thought it was
way cheesier than Hogs and Heifers or Coyote Ugly, and the
"water dance" almost made my male friend fall over in
lust and pain. The clientele is equally horny and very drunk, and
we saw quite a show within the crowd also. Many NYC bars have
girls dancing on the bar, but this one takes the cake with large
women on the bar thinking they look good in their bras and Daisy
Duke shorts. Did I mention that it was an experience? - A.R.
Always have fun there 'til dawn - M.B.
The best bar in NYC. Nuff said! - M.W.
An enjoyable bar for a quiet drink. -
S.J.
I've been to Red Rock many times and I have always had a good
time. Yes, the atmosphere is different, but it's fun!
I love the bartenders and I go there with my boyfriend. If you
want to have a crazy night, it's pretty much guaranteed at Red
Rock!!! - D.S.
The best place I've been to, especially if you become a regular. Boy, do the girls treat you
well if you're a regular. - D.T.
I'm not sure which came first, Hogs & Heifers or RRW, but you
get the feeling RRW is trying their damnedest to keep up. The girls
try to be as intimidating but they are not (they lack the 'I
might loose my bra' factor). They should be the sweethearts that
they are and enjoy the fact that the pyros and watering song are
worth many a return trip. Also if you keep wondering if someone
is following you around and spitting on the back of your neck, don't worry, they
spray the ceiling with water and it drips on you.
At least I hope that's what it was. - D.K.
I've been a regular here for 5 years and love it. It has changed
a lot since that ridiculous movie, Coyote Ugly, came out last
summer. What was once a true biker bar, has turned into a
bachelorette party, yuppie-run frat fest on weekends. So avoid
Fri. and Sat. or get there early and leave early. Otherwise, it's
still the most fun bar in the city with great music, plenty of
entertainment, excellent bartenders and low prices. It's not for
everyone but if you want a rowdy, good, drunken time, RRW rocks.
- S.A.
If you got thrown out of this place, let me know what caused it.
Yes, that was me that Thursday night; pants around my ankles,
shirt somewhere in the room, very, very drunk, and being whipped
by the bartender with my own belt. That was just the beginning.
Next, my nipples were set a-flame with 151, and shots poured down
my throat as I laid on the bar. Don't wanna get married? - Have
your bachelor party start here, and have your friends tell them
you've never been there before; I hadn't. A carnival of a bar on
the right night. - J.S.A.
Way better than Hogs & Heifers, no comparison. Trudy, you got my vote for the best bartender in NYC. The bouncers don't take no sh*t here. If you get thrown out, that's because you deserved
it, you're a yuppie and you where obnoxious. Marcel watches out for the regulars. It takes a lot to piss him off. Pool table is great. Colors are allowed. Riders don't have to wait in line at the door like the little people. Get a hat and shirt. John the owner is real. End up there after a run. You won't regret it. - B.F.
What are you kidding me? Wake up New Yorkers. If you like this place, you need help. - D.
The best bar ever! - G.R.
See what D.T. said. - K.V.
Saturday, October 19th 2002, this was the last stop on a 10 hour bar crawl, we were a group of six. We arrived in a great mood at 8pm. It was
quite. Place started to jump at 10pm, Gorgeous stripper-like bartenders, who dance on the bar. Good
music. A jumping atmosphere makes this place. Jimmy " Stools " danced an erotic entertaining dance for a Bachelorette party of 10 in the middle of the bar for 10 minutes and no one even looked twice. We left in a
drunken rage and crawled into our limo for the ride home to Mike's Place Sports Bar, Coram, N.Y., The Dool, The Egger, El Presindenti, Jimmy Stools, Gumby and Andre. -
S.O.
The first time I went there the weekend before Halloween. I must say, I had a great
time!!! We decided to make it a regular spot until the next weekend. Can you say White Trash
America? I'm white myself.. but I was so offended to hear some of the racist comments about the latino and black people who had been in there minding their own business enjoying themselves... Not to mention the absolutely disgusting bathroom or should I say outhouse.... If
you're KKK and enjoy a big time dive bar, this is where you want to go. - B.K.
We were there in August and had a blast (if you like craziness, that is). This place defines the word Biker
Bar. The barmaids put on a good show, Bouncers are huge and don't take any .... Keep you're eyes open,
you never know who or what you'll see in this place. We'll be back in Dec. Can't wait. -
S.G.
My buddy and I went with 4 female bartenders here from Jersey. We had a blast!! Thanks to the bouncers for watchin' after the girls. Guys can get pretty grabby here. You need to keep an open mind and cool head if you bring women here. Atmosphere was great!! You have to love a place that lights the bar on fire. The only decor worth seeing is the bartenders. The rear bartender is the best place to get a drink with no line, so service was good.
Two urinals and no crapper here. If you use the first pisser, expect the door to hit you in the butt. Needs help in this category. I definitely recommend hitting this place at least once. -
S.J.
Best bar in NYC. Hot bartenders, great music, and a great crowd. Bouncers keep everyone in line. The (men's) bathroom is poor, but better and cleaner than, say, the Village Idiot. Most important, no trendy ass euro-trash types. - E.B.

If you're new to the neighborhood or been there forever or just passing through, stop by. Great local bar and great regulars. The regulars range from lawyers to students and no one cares, just sit down and start talking to someone (none of that

Nice change to the regular bars in Turtle Bay. The food is great and the drink specials are amazing ($5 martini's on

I can't say enough about this place. I had my b-day party there and everything was perfect from start to finish. The food is top-notch, drinks are reasonable and the service was superb. The staff go out of there way to treat you right. It's a nice change to spend $$$ and actually be appreciated. -

Good local hangout place right in the center of NYU that draws a crowd ranging from early to late 20's. Not very big so can be a bit crowded at times. Has a good rock jukebox and a wide variety of beer selection. The menu is limited, but affordable. There are several TV's located throughout the bar, but they're not that big. Service is friendly. Bathrooms are in poor condition.

It reeks of beer in the

I really like the laid back atmosphere of this place. It can get crowded upstairs in the "Lounge" area but downstairs in the back room is great, just go early to get table. In the summer they have an awesome but

Comments - The staff knows how to treat its regulars. If they see you enough, buybacks and shots are the name of the game. Sometimes the crowd can get too rambunctious, but that's the nature of being located in Times Square. Food is generally good, especially the seafood. Bartenders are first-rate, and that means Ollie, Albert, Becky & Karolyne. Bathroom [are rated lower] because sometimes there ain't enough toilet paper! - B.
They
spelled "Emmet" incorrectly for the bar - they have (2)
"t"'s at the end. For the correct spelling, just look
at the portrait they have of Robert Emmet, (1) "t" at
the end. A good Guinness, not a great one. Overall, the bar is a
little too new, needs some breaking in. Great view of the Playpen
XXX Show Palace across the street. - R.S.
Fun bar. Not too crowded, not too loud, not too dark. Nice view
of commuters going to the Port Authority. A good example of the
NEW Times Square. - T.K.
A delightful bar. Very clean and
pleasant in the heart of the revived theatre district.
Friendly barmen. Delightful owners. Definitely transcends
the touristy area. An outstanding addition to NY's Irish
bar scene. - F.M.
One of my favorite midtown pubs. Though slightly
"upscale" as far as pubs go, the Guinness is very good
and the bartenders are awesome, especially Albert! They also have
excellent food. The fish and chips are definitely some of the
best in town. They have a large pre-theater crowd so go after 8
if that bothers you. - D.P.
Very friendly Irish bar located in the Theatre District.
Conveniently located near the A, C, and E subway station.
Bartenders are pleasant and the jukebox is very solid. Drinks are
affordable although some of the clientele should be introduced to
soap. - A.S.

Comments - This
is the home of "unrepentant Fenian bastards". Rocky's is highly regarded for its
excellent Guinness, friendly bar staff and live music. Co-owner
Chris Byrne, a.k.a. Seanchai, hosts Celtic hip-hop every Friday
night with his band, Seanchai & the Unity Squad. This is
truly a unique aspect of New York nightlife that should be seen
by all at least once, and more often if it moves you. Rocky's
also hosts literary
readings on Wednesdays, pub trivia nights, and Irish language
lessons and an occasional traditional Irish music seisiun on
Sunday nights. Check out the line-up at RockySullivans.com - S.M.
It's a very small Irish pub. It features brick walls, Irish decor
and a low ceiling. It draws a good, young, Irish +
Irish-American clientele. They have bands (and cover charges) at
certain times. It gets tight. The music (both the bands and the
jukebox) tend to be Irish. They finally fixed the steps in the
doorway. The prices are reasonable. The Irish bartenders are friendly and efficient. The
bathrooms are bad. - T.K.
The funniest and smartest bartender I have ever met, a short
heavy set guy named Peter. He made my night, great craic. - P.C.
I went into Rocky Sullivan's on a rainy Saturday at about 3pm because my friend and I had nothing better to do. There were only about 10 people at the bar, but I had one of the best times. Talk about a diverse crowd of Irish folk! Anyway... we drank some
Guinness and some Tullamore Dew and just had a great, great day! The bartender was a
hoot too! Especially since I came to find out that he bounced someone out of there a couple weeks ago .. some guy that
I don't particularly like. Since he's not allowed there anymore, I might make this my regular
spot!
p.s. Watch out for the cat walking around the bar.. if you drink too much you might step on the poor kitty! -
K.C.
It's hard to believe that you're actually on Lexington Ave. when you step into
Ireland at Rocky's! The fun is, that you never know what your going to find. Either live music, traditional
Irish to hip-hop or perhaps an ol' folk reading. The crowd is diverse and you can overhear many
Irish voices from Galway to Belfast. The bartenders as adorable! From the young handsome Frankie with his dark good looks to the very talkative and funny Peter, your bound to have a great time-my friends and I surely did! -
S.P.
This is the place to go for a great time. Lots of great looking Irish lads, especially behind the bar. Rory is as smart as he is hot, and MJ is as available as he is
hot! The regulars in the bar are friendly and talkative. This is an excellent place to finish off a late night. The best times here are late, like after 1:30 a.m. Definitely give it a try! - R.F.

awesome Tex-Mex bar just below midtown. This place is the perfect

The best things here: frozen margaritas that will kick your ass,
chicken fajitas, stuffed buffalo over the bar. - S.A.
It's a good happy hour spot. It doesn't get too crowded.
One of the few places in midtown where you can get a happy hour
special. The beer selection is good as well as the food
quality. Main drawback is the slow service. Sometimes
it seems you're invisible unless you're a regular (like
me). Love the peanuts. - T.S.
Bison on the ceiling.....peanut shells on the floors and kick-ass
margaritas. Great place to go during lunch to get hammered
for the remainder of the day!

Got married on Dec. 21st. Dinner at Tavern on the Green, and
drinks at the Plaza Hotel Oak Room. Boring and overpriced. Hit
the Rodeo Bar the next night with some friends for a
pre-honeymoon get together before traveling. Just picked the name
out of a mag and went for laughs. Should have gone there instead
on our wedding night....What a blast!!.....Killer 'Rita's, decent
food, good prices, and kickass music although the band started
way too late. We all woke up with peanuts in our various articles
of clothing the next morning, which I'm sure the Essex House
maid's were thrilled about when we checked out...Only drawback
(not the Rodeo Bar's fault, was that my pal slipped the
lead guitar player (band name unknown) $20 and a note asking for
a dedication song to us (the newly marrieds). .....stuffed it in
his pocket, and never did the dedication....not too cool. Can't
go wrong at this club though - B.T.
This is a country & western bar/restaurant. It features
several TV sets, a jukebox, a peanut barrel, a low ceiling
(smoky), a large buffalo over the bar, and live bands most
nights. It draws a clientele that is a mixture of all ages. The
prices are reasonable. The service is not so great. The bathrooms
in the basement are adequate. - T.K.
Good margaritas at this place, $7 per. They're strong, but not as alcohol filled as the ones at Rio Grande. Nice diversion from the standard NYC bar. Live music, with no cover. Worth a try. - A.S.

Comments - This landmark watering hole draws a considerably older
clientele. The term "family friendly" applies. Space is
tight. Thankfully, they don't blast the music. There is a lot of
sports decor. Watch for the happy hour specials. The bartenders
(the same ones have been there for years) are friendly and
efficient. The antique barber chair catches your attention on the
way in. Well lit, it features several TVs for sports viewing,
high-top bar tables, cocktail/dining booths, a separate dining
room, and a good pub menu. Closing time in Sea Girt is midnight.
The bathrooms leave something to be desired. - T.K.

Can you say festive? Bring out-of-towners in for the holidays. Come back after Christmas and meet the locals. -

This place changed the way I start a night. It used to be: eat first & then
drink. Rolf's had so much food I ate & went home. Now I drink &
drink and then hit the food! I love this place! Low key, romantic, and great
beer & food. Enjoy! - C.O.

- This place is awful. The DJ spins typical pop dance music to a crowd in their early twenties. The people who hang out here are the type of people who walk into a clothing store with an Vogue magazine and say I want everything she has on in this picture and here is my daddy's credit card. Easily one of the worst places I have ever been to.

Always a nice looking crowd here. Recently renovated, I like the new look a lot. The past few Saturday nights I've been here have been rocking. Definitely worth checking out! -

You must be kidding...that place sucked, $10 cover for what? A crowded bar and stuck up people. I won't go back there even if they pay me. M.L.

Comments - Yonkers, NY hotspot located on McLean Avenue - a street
awash with Irish bars and shops. Even the Greek diners do a good
Irish Breakfast just in time for that 4:30am detox! Young crowd
and lots of women, but can get too crowded on weekend. Also a
decent restaurant. If its too crowded there are a lot of other
places on the strip to check out. - P.M.
This Irish bar in Yonkers is a great place where the
off-the-boaters who do not believe in deodorant meet up with
what's left of the Irish in Yonkers, and the few that come up
from the Bronx or Washington Heights, NYC (a former Irish
conclave). They play great music and are well priced. The
bartenders know their drinks and the girls are cute and friendly,
ranging from Irish ones to Italians who
come up from Morris Park. If you hate NYC bars because of their
snooty attitudes and expensive brew, give Rory's a try. It's fun,
it's white and it rocks!!!!!!! - J.J.H.
This bar is full of scandals. They can all be found in this big Irish mess of a bar. The girls are eh, except for me and my friends, and the guys are nothing but
horn-dogs. The drinks are good and decently priced & bartenders are good, but
bar backs are kind of cocky. Bathrooms are clean and have a full array of hairspray and tampons for your convenience. Check this place out on
Thursday nights (Fridays and Saturdays suck) unless you're 30 years + and off the boat. Always a ton of fun! - P.A.

midtown west staple for over 20 years, it no longer has live
music. Reasonable prices. Upstairs has a bar & restaurant.
Downstairs (sometimes rented out for parties) has a bar, lounge

tourists and theatergoers. - T.K.
Theater district Irish bar and restaurant that boasts to be the
Home of Irish Entertainment. The upstairs bar
is separated from the main dining area, and provides window space
for people watching, indoor and out. There is also a bar and
lounge area downstairs. A good place to meet for a drink pre or
post theater.
The best place on the west side of midtown to enjoy a big meal, or cheeseburger and one of the best pints of
Guinness in NYC. Even the downstairs bar is comfortable and worth a visit. -

If you are really into 60's retro and if you dream of decorating with red light bulbs and lion heads then you will love
Royale. They have an awesome DJ and their Bloody Mary's are better than the French Quarter. Bring you friends
be cause you could have the lounge area to yourself on Thursday nights. On the weekends it is busier. They even sell Shiraz by the glass and you can't beat that. -
J.S.
Unimpressive little bar along the so-far less trendy south end of Brooklyn's Fifth
Avenue. The back is way too small for a DJ, not to mention trying to dance. The
staff is kind of...hard to describe it..."wary" of customers. Guess they should be given some slack for breaking into new territory, but this bar really doesn't have anything going for it that isn't done better a few blocks away in almost any direction. True, there is a lack of DJ's and dancing in this part of Brooklyn, but if it is done so poorly here, why bother going? It just makes it a reason to avoid the place, not an incentive to stay. - S.R.

Upper east side neighborhood bar with one of the largest
selection of tap beers in NY, with 26 taps. The place
prides itself on its beer selection, and even hosts a beer
appreciation night. Friendly bartenders will help you with your
selection, if its not too busy. - S.M.
This is a great starter bar. Best time to be there is 8pm or so
on a Saturday night. The Bartenders are always wearing JUST
enough, and they'll have you leaving (if you do leave) ready for
a good evening. They have about 25 different Taps and about 15
bottled beers. I have never had a bad time, except for the one
time a guy stood on the bar and pulled his pants down past his
ankles, Enuff Said!!!! And that was at 7:30 on a Saturday
evening. Strictly for boozing and intoxicated dancing. Everybody
should try it once. - S.B.

Comments: I love
Rudy's, they have some of the cheapest beer in Manhattan and the
bartenders are fabulously attentive. Even newcomers are treated
like regulars at this Hell's Kitchen dive, and everyone I have
introduced to the place has become one. The taped-together red
vinyl booths are ugly at best, but the jukebox rules, and the
"patio" (chain link fence blocking off the alley, I
think) is a great place to hang in the summer. And like I said,
some of the cheapest beer in Manhattan. - C.H.
During the day, Rudy's is the quintessential dive bar with cheap
beer, free hotdogs, and lots of old drunks at the bar. Most
nights, and especially on weekends, it becomes wall to wall
packed with 20-30 something professionals from the Nuveau Hell's
Kitchen area. Still a good place to drink cheaply, although their
prices have risen in recent years. Also, a great jukebox for
blues and blues-inflected rock. - J.S.L.
The pig, for a while, resided at "The Swine On Nine",
now the "9th Ave Bistro" for reasons stemming more from
the wild-eyed, air-guitar jamming septuagenarian men emerging
from the lavatory rubbing their scorched nostrils and, well,
WHATEVER was going on in the pool room than any real need for 9th
Ave to have an eponymous "bistro" -- a great place
nonetheless. Anyway, Rudy's. A perfect place to tie one on before
going somewhere else. Or, stay. Stay until you're knee walking drunk, cross-eyed, slurring, slobbering, crying as the jukebox's
output slowing to an asphyxiating sludgy dirge, pushing
cigarettes into your nostrils, stay until you're reminiscing
favorably of the last time you sampled too-potent hallucinogens.
Last winter, just before Christmas, I was there with coworkers.
One puked at the table so we threw him outside to the curb to
sober up. Boozing, we'd forgotten about him until the bouncer
reminded us, "Yo! Your friend is freezing to death out
there." Luckily, 9th Ave has lots of cabs. Just try and be
coherent enough to tell them where you're going.
There's lots of out-of-towners and locals, clean-cut yuppie
wannabees, nannies, and dirt bags at a fairly even proportion
between the sexes. EVERYBODY'S looking for a good time and in
high spirits. Thus the mightiness of Rudy's. And, of course, free eff-ing hotdogs! Rudy's: the highlight of Hell's Kitchen, baby. -
S.G.
This was an okay time...we went on a Sunday night where the
majority of the people there were old drunk men. The music is
very random. Blues, Jazz, Rock, and Country in no order
whatsoever. The prices were good ($6.50 for a pitcher of Miller
Lite) and the service was okay. There is barely anywhere to sit.
I would suggest bringing your own crowd to this bar on a
weeknight. The free hotdogs are great though!!! - K.A.
Be prepared to stand; A) hardly anywhere to sit and usually
crowded, B) if you sit, you'll be poured into a cab about 10
hours later. Sitting is not needed in this great dive bar. You're
instantly an "old friend" with the friendliest and most
efficient bartenders I've ever seen. Cheap pitchers, and a top
notch juke box round out this bar of bars. Free hotdogs? GENIUS!
- J.S.A.
Hell's Kitchen Dive. Bunch of weirdo's and freaks leftover from the Jerry Springer show. - A.S.
Best little "neighborhood" bar in NYC. Sitting is not an option, but by the time you wedge your way up to the bar, the smiling bartender is wonderful and the prices are even better.
There's always someone interesting to talk to, and even if you bring your own crowd you're soon part of another group until the whole bar seems like it's part of the conversation. Best for late nights after you've had a few and need a few more. Those free hot dogs will keep you going for a few more hours at least! When you're here it always seems that last call comes a little too soon because you're having too much fun, but thank goodness for all those cabs driving down 9th who can decipher a drunken mumble and turn it into a real address. Only go here if you're ready to party, and if you can find a seat, GRAB IT! - E.C.

Great place to relax and enjoy your friends. The decor is posh but not arrogant. The in-house
