This bar & restaurant is connected to the Coyote
Grill by a walkway on a dock. While there is a large outdoor
area, the indoor area is enough to keep it going all year. It
draws a younger clientele than the Coyote Grill. It's very
popular (as are Montego Bay and the Coyote Grill) on Fridays,
Saturdays & Sundays in the summer. The prices vary (watch for
the specials) and the service is so-so. The view of the bay (from
here and the Coyote Grill) is the primary draw. The bathrooms
(located inside) are OK except that lines form when it's crowded.

It's a small, quiet, friendly, smoky neighborhood Irish
pub. It features several TVs, a jukebox, and a pool table. The
prices are reasonable and the
service is good. It's a good place to go with a group of friends.
I went there by myself and was invited to participate in the
birthday party that was in progress. The bathrooms are adequate.

Comments - There I
was, down on my luck after losing a packet at the Breeders Cup
when I walked into Paddy Reilly's on a Monday night for a couple
of beers. I left four hours later buzzing after a great time. The
music in the bar was brilliant, the bar was packed and I forgot
about the race horse, Galileo. I was amazing to hear such good
music and have such great craic on the first night of the week.
The owner/manager Steve is a pretty good guy and he even bought a
drink. See this place for yourself. - E.C.
If you own a pair of dancing shoes....then this is the place to
be!!...FUN FUN FUN. - M.E.
Old Irish Pub atmosphere with great live Irish bands and always a
good pint of Guinness. - M.S.
Good Irish and American music most nights. Good, fun clientele.
Friendly and efficient Irish bartenders. Good happy hour prices
($2.50 for domestic beers). There is a cover charge after a
certain hour when there is live music. - T.K.
I had always heard great things about this bar. Quite frankly, I
was a little disappointed. The atmosphere is great but I could
not get past the general feeling of being packed in like sheep in
a pen. While the staff is friendly and helpful, good luck
fighting your way through the masses to get a beer. I can think
of several Irish bars far superior to this one. - T.B.
Friday and Saturday nights there's a cover, but it's a fun time. Really crowded, but generally good natured folks dancing and bobbing around Celtic-inspired tunes. During the week there's no cover, and the music, by-and-large, is very good, but a much lower-key environment. They pull a fine
pint, but it sets you back $6. Staff is friendly and hard-working. Some demented, smelly locals there, too, but otherwise, a great place for the low-maintenance crowd. -
E.F.
Great fireman's bar, took care of us California fireman. The Guinness flows freely, the band was
great. - K.W.

This place is really bad. I think it used to be a hot
spot, but it's well past its prime. It was not very crowded on a Saturday night, and was full of weird couples who kept staring at me and my friends. The atmosphere was lame with everyone just standing around or paying the hefty price to sit down for bottle service. The live percussion was cool and the place is decorated nicely. The worst part was when this big nasty guy came up from behind me and slapped my butt as an introduction. Talk about classless. -
T.M.
My friend and I decided to check this place out on a Sunday night. If your a guy, expect to pay 500 dollars up front for a table.
The crowd was bad and would only let those in who were willing to pay the fee for seating (earlier in the
night). I was there a bit early when the place first opened, but even though I beat the crowd, it
wasn't worth the wait to even get a peak inside. The bouncers act like its such a
privilege to get in. Whether you're cute or busted plan on waiting outside for a bit if your not wearing a skirt that screams
huchie! There are too many other great party spots in NYC to be wasting
your time here! I didn't rate the place because I left before I got inside, so I
don't want to mislead anyone...but instead of just rejecting and accepting people they just want people to purchase a table inside and those who do not...they want them to hang outside & wait in line so it looks like people are aching to get
in. Judge for yourself. - T.8.

- Hot
spot to see and "be scene". The front bar area
is small, but has a few small tables to sit back and people
watch. Due to the popularity of its restaurant, the bar always
has some activity going on. The bar is actually twice as long as
what they utilize, but they use half of it for a shrine of white
candles, producing a nice ambiance for the dining area. - S.M.
Although the bar in this spacious place is lively and crowded,
it's more restaurant than bar. It seems to draw high rollers of
all ages. The prices are expensive ($6 for a bottle of Amstel
Light). It can be a challenge to get the bartenders' attention.
The bathrooms are more than adequate. T.K.

Huge sports bar. TV's everywhere you look. Best place in New York
City to watch football even though thumbs down for all the
Michigan alumni who pack the place. Prices are a bit high. Some of the wait staff should head
to the gym before wearing outfits that reveal their midriff.
Britney Spears they ain't. Bathrooms are okay, could use some

House (Jersey Shore) (Avg. of 3 reviews) |
First Ave. & Beacon Blvd., Sea Girt, N.J. | 9.0 | 8.0 | 7.3 | 7.3 |
Comments - This is
one of the most popular (very crowded) bars in the Jersey Shore
area. It's four places in one. The outside bar area is very
small. The dining area is OK, but the portions and prices aren't.
The upstairs room is well lit, large, with 3 bars, several TVs,
darts, bar bowling, a small dance floor, bands early in the
evening, and loud piped-in music later. The downstairs room is
darker, with 3 bars, bar bowling, several TVs, video games,
peanut machines, and bands later in the evening. There are happy
hour specials on both floors. There is a cover after 8PM. Closing
time for all bars in the town of Sea Girt is midnight. The
clientele is a good twentysomething and thirtysomething crowd.
It's the most popular place in the area on Sunday nights. The
bartenders are friendly and efficient. The cabs waiting outside
are abundant. The bathrooms are more than adequate. - T.K.
Freshly-tannned yuppies dress to impress in their best summer wear at this, the
best bar on the Jersey Shore to meet successful and attractive twenty and thirty-something aged NY/NJ area men and women. The crowd is loud and fun, but not too rowdy with the ever-present local Police nearby, who yell to everyone to "Get the phone
number (of your new meet) and get out!" by midnight (when it closes!) The lines can be a problem though if getting there past late
happy hour time. - J.M.
With great bands and a fun yet somewhat preppy crowd, this classic Jersey Shore Bar has the reputation of being the best place for meeting summer romances in the State. There are about seven bars that are staffed by very busy although good bartenders. The bar is divided into three areas; The downstairs "party and concert room" (which has keg beer on tap), a psuedo-club upstairs, which attracts more mature crowd, and a outside deck which handles the overflow. -M.M.

Comments - It's
my bar, so I am not very objective! If you are looking for a great place to hear
live music with musicians who can really play, and don't want to spend all your
money on cover charges...come on over! Friendly staff, something different
every night. Pool table, great juke for true music lovers, TV with the game on,
and a separate room to listen to bluegrass/comedy/salsa/delta
blues/rock/pop/jazz/singer-songwriter stuff & an occasional DJ party. - K.P.
The Parkside is the last outpost for nightlife on East Houston Street, but it is
well worth the trek. Classic NYC bar up front, with friendly bartenders and an
excellent jukebox. Pool table toward the rear. The real treasure
hear is the back room. There is always something going in this intimate
performance space, with an eclectic line-up from bluegrass, to comedy, to Latin,
to jazz and any type of music you can think of. Look for the neon sign on
the corner of Attorney St. - S.M.

- Fun
fun fun! What a place this is! Great music, friendly staff,
dancing, spacious bathroom. One of the best spots in the city! -
J.M.
My favorite upper west side bar, the Parlour has a lot going for
it. As you enter, you are confronted with two bars to choose
from, left or right, plus a dining room with great food in back.
But wait, there's more! There is also a downstairs, with another
bar & lounge, providing live rock/dance music on Friday &
Saturday nights and comedy on Tuesdays. The service is excellent,
from the waitresses, to the bartenders, to the owner. And they
pour an excellent pint of Guinness as well. - S.M.
Reasonable prices.
Two bars and a dining area on the ground level. A lounge and bar
in the basement. The entertainment is usually in the basement.
Different clientele at different times (younger later at night).
Various entertainment venues - live music certain nights, comedy
on other nights. You can pick up a schedule of events at the
door. Friendly and efficient Irish bartenders. Bathrooms on both levels. - T.K.
Overall great Upper West Side bar on Friday and Saturday nights.
Prices of beer are cheap, for us Yorkville types. Come bearing
your outfits from the latest J Crew and Polo catalogs. Oh, and
99% chance you'll run into a lacrosse buddy from the past. - M.K.

Much older crowd and pretty boring. There used to be good
bartenders in this place a couple of years ago. The ones working
there now are just OK. Not very friendly or outgoing. - R.H.
Nice place to hang out if you are a senior citizen. Very boring.
Unfortunately, the best thing about this place is the bathrooms,
and they're not the best either! - C.F.
A very good basic saloon. The food is good, I strongly suggest the Black Jack Burger or if you're really hungry, Irish Bacon Sausage and mashed potatoes. I found the service was always good. I worked around the corner from Conway's for 3 years and was there regularly for both lunch and drinks. I personally like the some of the former bartenders
over the current ones, but they are all professional. They sell enough Guinness so that it's never stale, (very important). If you're looking for a place to go meet friends and have a couple adult beverages and talk, this is the place. If you looking for music, lights and action, it isn't. - H.O'B.

Spacious Irish pub with televisions located throughout to watch

Irish pub/restaurant is an oasis compared to the other bars in
Belmar. Pat's Tavern is primarily a restaurant with a bar and
solo musicians at certain times. Patrick's Pub (located next
door) is primarily a bar that serves food and has bands at night.
The bands don't 'blast it'. It's a wrap-around bar with
cocktail/dining tables around the perimeter and a smaller bar in
one corner. There are a few video games in another corner. There
are cover charges on certain nights. The clientele are mostly
Irish-Americans of various ages. The bartenders in both places

This place has four rooms and a yard. I counted eight
bars. it also features several TVs, a pool table, darts,
shuffleboard, foosball, video games, an ATM, and various pictures
on the walls. I was there at about 6PM on a Saturday and only one
of the bars was open. The prices are reasonable (this was happy
hour) and the service was decent. The clientele at that time
seemed to be an assortment of unusual looking older patrons. When
I walked in, the jukebox was playing 'People are Strange'. That
seemed to sum up the crowd. It gets crowded with rowdy younger
people later at night. The bathrooms are barely adequate. -T.K.
Nothing pretty to look at inside and who cares about the bathroom when you are at a bar. They play the
Mets, have plenty of TV's, foosball, pool, shuffleboard etc. This place is as big as a hotel and if you've had too many, you might get lost. Great music, and great service. Don't sit at the long bar in the cabin where
Bill and Chuck serve, unless you are from the shore...and we will notice if you are not from the shore, Vito. Great bar for rowdy good times. Put your drinking face on and ask for a Zip. - S.M.

- Old
Greenwich Village standby which boasts the widest beer selection
in the city. Bare bones wood booths let you know that this place
is built for serious beer drinking. Weekends become a mob scene, as it
is a landmark on the NY bar scene, and people come from all over.
Walls are decorated with a variety of beer labels, mats and
promotional items such as signs and mirrors, all highlighting the
eclectic mix of beers. - S.M.
Most extensive beer list. Always packed, good prices, fun. - K.D.
Good, sparse, efficiently laid out, killer selection of beers...
but what sadist put in the black & white bathroom tiles? NOT
what I need to look at when my head's swimming. - C.W.
Best bar in NYC. - J.S.
Full of character, and not in the real-estate agent's way of
meaning! Full of beer... any type or brand - they stock it! Full
of people, and interesting ones at that, the bartenders and
customers are . .. interesting to say the least. A great place to
be. - A.C.V.
Great selection of beers from all over the world. - F. D.
Go there and see. I was there one Friday night. Someone puked in
the sink. I told the bartender about the incident. Within minutes
a kitchen help mopped the sink and the fresh smell of bleach
consumed the area. The choice between the smell of bleach or
puke? You decide ? - J.M.
Love it. I was there once on a Sunday it was quiet. I was told by
a regular to come on the weekend and see a different view of the
pub. I did. It was like night and day. The beer lovers come when
it is quiet and the party goers appears during weekends. All in
short, the people I spoke to love the 500 different beers on hand
and the atmosphere of the pub. I love the city and the Village.
There is no place I rather be then the Peculier Pub. I was there
this Sunday. Finished the Belgium section. I will start with the
German Weiss beer next. Cheers. - C.H.
Excellent bottled beer selection! - M.J.
Small place, way too packed and the bartenders really aren't that
nice. A very preppy crowd and the bathroom lines are out of
control. I really wouldn't go back. - R.P.
It's a Bleecker Street pub
with an extensive beer selection. It gets a young (NYU?)
crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. Bar area and booths.
Reasonable prices. The
bathrooms are OK. - T.K.
Peculier Pub is so cool. It is the best place to start the night
off, get drunk and stagger over to Asylum or any other village
bar. Me and my friends have stayed for two hours sometimes. On
the downside, there's no dancing and its a bit touristy but who
cares. The drinks are pretty cheap and when you're drunk you can
have lots of fun, even with out-of-towners. - M.B.
BEER!!!! In all languages, in pints, in bottles, in cans, in
heaven! - D.K.
Having 500 Beers alone may sound like the perfect place for Hop
Heads, but Peculier is not all great. Don't get me wrong, the
dark, woody decor is great and the beer selection rocks, but the
atmosphere leaves a few things to be desired, especially on
weekend. It's on weekends when the beer drinking paradise is
marred by loud frat boys guzzling Coors Light (or Satan's urine,
as I call it). The staff is also not always pleasant or
efficient. It's a good place to start an evening while the palate
is fresh and the dick population is still low. When the place
gets ugly and all the beer starts to taste the same, move on. The
Village has an abundance of cooler places. - A.S.
Whoever said this was the best bar in NYC must be underage, like
everyone else who goes here! If you have a younger bro/sis not of
legal drinking age, bring them here. Good beer selection, prices
a little high. -M.V.
More fake I.D.s than cute faces. Loud. Overworked, but likewise
unfriendly bar wenches. Great selection of beers, but go during
off hours. - J.N.
Whaaaatttt??? This is a kick ass bar: great service, a wide selection of beers, and nice
atmosphere. Anyone who is a true drinker, is welcome here! - S.N.

Renowned as the "oldest original bar in NYC",
established in 1864, this Gramercy Park landmark is famous as the
sight where O. Henry wrote the "Gift of the Magi". More
recently in the news as the place where supermodel Vendela had
her wallet stolen, Christmas 96. Sentimental spot at
Christmas time, nevertheless, where the decorative white lights
really get you in the holiday mood. Since it so tiny, it is often
crowded, but it is a friendly crowd, so say hello to your

first established in 1864. It seems to draw a clientele of all
ages. It features several TVs, low playing music, and many old
furnishings. The prices are reasonable. Getting the bartenders' attention can be a
challenge. The bathrooms, located in the basement, are adequate.

The elephant's graveyard, except elephants are too self-respecting to be caught in this pit. Where the upper east side's terminal alcoholics go to die,
this place is a must see for those of a more morbid disposition. Their crap in their pants and their vomit on their shoes (and perhaps
yours), the only thing the befuddled clientele spends more money on than liquor, is Depends Undergarments. The charm of the bartenders is the marbles in their mouth, when they're coherent enough to articulate at all. Don't forget to say hi to your hostess, the personable Sandy, who is always available for a chat when not engaged in another
tussle with the D.T.'s. The inmates er, customers, who can't spell soap much less know how to use it, promise a truly odiferous experience. See you there soon (don't forget the
disinfectant)! - P.E.

- This is Rockaway's best kept secret, it sits right on the bay facing the beautiful city skyline. For all of you smokers, a bar was
recently built on the outside deck, only enhancing the feeling of paradise in New York. I was just there, and
I thought everybody should know what a great place this truly is. - T.T.
The Pier has been around for years, but always as a restaurant. Now they redid the place to make it a bar, and it is great. There are fun specials all throughout the week; the staff is friendly; and the outdoor deck is great for summer nights. Smokers can hang out on the deck and not worry about Bloomie's stupid law; and the place is not overrun with under-age kids like some other bars in the neighborhood. An

they are located in the basement. - T.K.
The Pig is a great spot for theatergoers and drinkers alike.
Excellent food with reasonable Manhattan price tags. One problem,
if you go with two people at the height of dinner rush, you're
likely to get seated at a four person table with two other people
you don't know. Privacy and elbow room are at a minimum. But hey,
you might make some new friends! An alternative if its crowded

Straining too hard to appear "upper crust". Glass
partitions at the bar a nice touch. One bartender, obviously
sullen, appeared to consider serving patrons a personal favor. -

Cool, modern Irish bar. Lots of bar space, great after work
hangout. - J.M.
Too bright and fake. Your everyday "meat market"
kind of bar. Nothing original about the place that sticks
in your mind after you leave. - L.B.
Formerly Sheila Clancy's, this is a nice, recently refurbished
Irish pub. Like its sibling on W. 47th St., it seems to attract a
good, mixed (all ages) clientele. There is a good buffet. It
features several TVs, mellow music on the jukebox, chandeliers,
dark oak wood bar and walls, frosted glass partitions, high-top
bar tables, dining tables and booths, and miscellaneous Irish
decor. Space is a little tight. The Irish bartenders are friendly
and efficient. The prices are reasonable. The bathrooms are adequate. - T.K.

One of the last of a dying breed. The Piper's Kilt or "P & K's" as it's known to regulars is a fine place for a
burger (the best in the city) & a beer. Popular after work drink spot &
pre-night on town meeting place. Bartenders are quick, friendly, & funny to a
man! Prices are very
reasonable. Brunch is served on Saturday & Sunday. Direc TV & unlimited Bloody Mary's!
That's how you spend football season. - P.W.
This bar is a great place to hangout on a Saturday afternoon or evening. The

west side entry of this trio is a small, dark, lively bar. Space
is tight. The music is from the radio. There is an interesting
assortment of wall decor. It seems to draw a combination of local
office workers, tourists, and theatergoers (probably an overflow
from the W. 57th St. theme bars). The bartenders are friendly and
efficient. The prices are reasonable. The subway-style bathrooms are one-at-a-time and very
tight. -T.K.
PJ Carneys is one of my favorite local bars. I don't know if you know this but they completely renovated this year and it came out great. What I love most about the bar is its atmosphere. Every time I go there I seem to meet new people. For some reason that place just gives such a positive vibe and that is why I keep going. it seems like a little dive bar, the bartenders were so friendly

jukebox too. Don't bring a big crowd with you, however -
it's pretty tiny. - J.M.
This is one of a chain of three small (space is very tight) Irish
pubs. Like its two siblings, it attracts a good after-work
clientele of all ages along with a certain number of Irish
people. It features several TVs, one large screen, good tunes on
the jukebox, dining tables, video games, a low ceiling (smoky)
with fans, and miscellaneous Irish decor. The Irish bartenders
are friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable. It takes a trek down a long, steep
staircase to reach the one-at-a-time bathrooms. - T.K.
The Day time bar person is great, a
good looking girl and on the ball. Eat your hearts out. Bathrooms
are down stairs. The kitchen is small but the food is real good
at a great price. Night time bartenders are real characters. Just
don't ask for a fancy drink. A fun place. - P.F.
Too small, bathroom sucks. Irish get larger pints than Americans.
Jukebox okay. Day bartender was crabby at best. - F.E.
Great wee pub to have a drink in and can spend several hours
having a bit of craic with the bartenders who all know how to
have a bit of fun. The only reason that the Irish get more in a
pint than the Americans is because Irish people can hold their
drink. - G.M.

Great bathroom! - M.T.
This is a very popular (crowded) historic New York pub that was
first established in 1890. While they have managed to keep the
place up very well, it still has that OLD New York look about it.
(It may qualify for landmark status). There is no music at all.
Well lit, there are picture windows, high ceilings, a bar and a
dining area in the rear. It draws a wide array of people.
Tourists are steered here by hotel concierges. The bartenders,
dressed in butchers' smocks, are friendly and efficient. The
prices are reasonable. The large fixtures are usually a topic of
conversation at the bar. - T.K.
After several visits, I found Dennis and Harvey to be two of the
friendliest and best bartenders in the city. Killer jukebox
featuring great jazz from the 20's to the 50's. Great burgers and
always a friendly crowd at the bar if you feel like a chat. It is
worth a trip just to see the urinals in the men's room that
Sinatra supposedly said were the largest he had ever seen. - B.R.

The food is very good, bartenders very attentive. Drinks are
reasonably priced and you get buy backs! Pretty good jukebox, but
even when it's not playing, they have a great music track. I
always have a good time there. Just a bathroom comment -- there's
only one stall each (men's and women's) but they are always clean
and well stocked. - T.S.
This is
an Irish pub that opened in January 2001. It seems to draw local

floor, and a pub menu. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. The bathrooms are
barely adequate. - T.K.
P.J. Kelly's is not a stiff or stuffy bar. It has a 'Cheers' type atmosphere where everyone with a good attitude seems to be welcomed. The bartenders are very professional, chatty and knowledgeable. The bathrooms are adequate (clean but
small). The new chef is excellent. All in all one of the better downtown NYC bars. - P.B.

I didn't like this place at all, the restaurant is in the back
away from the bar and the after-work crowd. If you like to be in
the center of it all with music and laughter, this is not the

This place is okay, nothing special. It's not very big, so it
probably wouldn't be the most comfortable place on a Friday. It
could use a jukebox to liven up the place. Drinks were kind of
expensive, $12 for a Harp & a vodka tonic. I've seen better
Irish Pubs in Midtown. - A.S.
Only been there on a Tuesday...Relaxed atmosphere, where you can
have a drink with a friend, without yelling, that's a plus.
Nothing much else that exciting about the bar. It must be
overcrowded on Thursdays and Fridays, because it's such a small
bar. Drink are not cheap either. - J.S.

- The
oldest and largest of the Playwright trio, it has two floors of
drinking and dining. The bar areas and dining areas are separate.
The main floor seems to be a more active bar scene. It has pretty
good tunes on the jukebox. It draws a clientele of after-work,
tourists and theatergoers. It gets very crowded (particularly on
the ground floor) on Friday nights. Friendly and efficient Irish
bartenders. Reasonable prices.

This place was interesting. The
bartenders are helpful and friendly, but don't seem particularly
bright. One of them asked if I wanted my beer on the
rocks. The people ranged the gamut in age, but some of them
looked especially trashy. TVs are hard to see unless you're

tunes. - A.S.

Formerly The Merry Ploughboy (never liked that name), the bar has
been redone from top to bottom and is a nice looking bar with a
cozy warm environment. The staff when I was there was a mix of
experienced older male bartenders and cute young females who were
still a bit green. We all have to start somewhere. The service
was fast and efficient. If the bar carries anything forward it
will probably be it's dart team which I imagine is where the name
came from. Rocky the owner is a nice guy and makes the rounds
regularly and is a nice change from owners who either stay only
in their own bar or are stone faced. I like the place and think
it'll get better over time. It's only flaw is it's location off
the main strip which may hurt it in the long run. Time will tell.
