Iguanas is a
definite hot spot. Restaurant is absolutely beautiful and
romantic and they serve Mexican food that is delicious! The club
downstairs opens at 6:30pm and the DJ spins music starting from
the 70's and up. After work crowd, 20-30 something crowd. It's
hot on Thursday's and Friday's. Check it out. I give this place
10's a cross the board! - J.T.
Had to take issue with the 10
for service on the previous review. Been there plenty of times on
Thursday, a big night for them, and the bartenders have no
problem making you wait twenty or so minutes for a drink. - J.M.
Was there on a Thursday night a year ago
and then went again a few Thursdays ago. I have to say the music
has gotten a lot better as well as the crowd! The DJ was on point
playing a good mix of dance, hip hop, R&B with some Spanish
music too. The drinks are great, the bartenders are definitely
not stingy on the alcohol! - S.Y.

- The "new and improved" Inn is a definite good time. DJ Timmy Tunes plays great drinking
music---good for a fun dance floor and for people who want to stand around the top and
enjoy watching the bar below. The bands so far have matched Tim's music. The crowd is a great mix--equal ratio men to women and ages ranging between
21-35. Everyone is having a good time! - J.M.R.
It's owned by the same people who own CJ Sullivan's in
Bayside and the Publick House in Southampton. Well lit, there are
two bars (a large one and a small one in the back), a stage, a
dance floor, and a mezzanine. The music (live acts most nights)
seems to resound off the high ceiling. There seems to be a golf
theme to the decor. It's very popular (crowded) drawing a good
twentysomething and thirtysomething clientele. Very often, there
is "no room at the Inn". It features a jukebox, several
TVs, and a good pub menu. They take away the barstools when it
starts to get crowded. The bathrooms have lines when the joint is
crowded. - T.K.
Worth stopping in and staying. Good music - whether band or DJ, Nice crowd,
polite doormen, and well done interior. - D.A.
While the old Inn may have been worse for wear in the last couple of years, at least it had context and character. While the siding may have been cheap and the interior drab the staff were great and the bar fit the West End like a hand fits the glove. The same can't be said of its stone veneer replacement which while immaculate seems more suited for the Hudson Valley. Furthermore, the spaced-out bar maids need to lay-off the disco biscuits. -
D.M.
The Inn is one of the hottest places to go to right now. They have a great DJ who plays a variety of music. They also have awesome bands who know how to play to the crowd. The staff is so much fun. The female bartenders not only know how to serve the drinks, but they know how to dance, especially on the bar at 4 in the morning. So to the critic above who told them to lay off the disco
biscuits, I note a bit of jealously. Nobody seems to mind their bartending/dancing talent, including the girls who come to the bar. The place is still packed at last call, so you know they are doing something right. - A.D.
The new Inn is a great place to see a live band due to the fact that the sound system is awesome. The sound system is at times too loud and you have to scream to hold a conversation and this is especially true when the band is on a break and the DJ is playing. The sound definitely is on the verge of being at a level that can cause deafness. I am a fan of loud music but this is at a whole different level. The way that the bar charges a cover you would think that is the only way that they can make money. I guess this is paying for the renovations or something. The bands are good and
supposedly "expensive" but they are cover bands and decent at best. As far as the service I found it very easy to get drinks, however I was charged a different price each time. As a former bartender I understand that there are different prices at different times of the day, but I have only been to the Inn after
midnight so it must be a new system. The chances of getting a buyback are near
impossible, yet the bartender patiently awaits their tip when the drinks are served. Overall, I had a good time at the
bar, although I was disappointed at having to pay city prices in Long Beach without getting the city services or atmosphere. The only city aspect was the politeness of the doorman and the girls dancing on the bar. - B.G.

Comments - I have
no idea what the name of this small, narrow dive bar is supposed
to mean. It doesn't seem to draw many patrons. It has no TV, a
jukebox with a sign on it reading "play at your own
risk", a bookcase, a low ceiling with fans, brick walls,
cocktail tables, Christmas lights up all year round, and a small
backyard. The beer selection is somewhat limited. The prices are
reasonable and the service is decent.
The one-at-a-time bathrooms are atrocious (the sinks are
outside). - T.K.
Just what you would expect from an East Village dive: a dark, narrow bar with cheap drinks, eclectic
decor and a hip local crowd. Check out the vintage photos on the wall. Also has
outside seating in backyard. - S.M.

Irish Pub (Avg. of 4 reviews) |
839 Seventh Ave. (between 53rd & 54th St.) | 6.8 | 6.3 | 7.3 | 6.0 |
Comments - A good
place to start an evening. It has a decent selection of brews and
the place was filling up with people even though it wasn't even
the weekend yet. Prices were reasonable too. - O.K.
A lively, upbeat pub that draws both New Yorkers and tourists.
Friendly and efficient Irish bartenders. Reasonable prices. Good food at decent prices.
High top bar tables. TV, large picture window. Interesting map of
Ireland/families coats of arms in the basement. Bathrooms are
adequate but are located in the basement. - T.K.
Nice little place for a mid-town tourist/theatre crowd place.
Real Irish barkeeps, some good beer selection and every fourth
draught on the house make it a nice place to start an evening or
have a relaxing drink after work. - A.S.
Nice bar, but no buy backs. Besides that, it went well. - L.C.

The best Guinness in New York City and a crowd that's as friendly
as any in the world. Got to go and check it out. - K.B.
Always full of people and fun. Everyone is there to have a good
time and meet new people. There is always a decent band on
Saturdays and the bartenders are the best! - K.Z.
Has one big screen and a few smaller screen TVs for watching "the game". Usually has a good band on Saturday nights. The Guinness is excellent and the people and staff are friendly and attentive. - B.C.

Comments - Irving
Plaza is an old ball-room style place that is primarily used as a
live music venue (also hosts swing dancing on Sunday
nights). It presents medium sized rock acts like Billy
Bragg, Dar Williams, They Might Be Giants, Jeff Tweedy, etc. The first floor houses the box office, coat check,
restrooms and a small lounge area. The main room sits on the
second floor, with a large stage, dance-floor and bar. The
third floor acts as a terrace over the dance-floor. Located in
the Gramercy area of Manhattan, it is one of the top places to
see a band in NYC. - S.M.
