- This
dimly lit, very popular (very crowded) run down bar features one
of the most extensive selections of tap beers. I was there at
about 6PM on a Friday evening. It had a mixed crowd at that time.
It features mellow music, a high ceiling with fans, cocktail
tables, and a nice sized back yard. The prices are reasonable
(especially at happy hour). The bartender seemed to be a bit
overwhelmed. The bathrooms are bad. - T.K.
Cool hang out. - K.D.
Great selection of micro brews on tap! Don't go looking for Bud
or Coors Light though! Nice backyard with tables during summer! I
thought the prices were a little high. - R.P.
Well, this place is great. A perfectly lovely spot to have
yourself a Guinness or a hand pulled pint along with a side of
whatever flavor of the hard stuff you might ever fancy. But,
beware - do not make any comments about the hand pulling
procedure whilst the bar wench is in the process of the same. I
did and was treated to an unpleasant put down. Now I understand a
soul might grow weary over listening to the same stupid comments
from customers about that operation, but it is a novelty, and
they are your customers, and you are working for tips, so,
perhaps a little bit of patience and forbearance would be in
order, don't you think?
And while I'm wenching about the bar-wenches, those girls behind
the bar could stand to learn a lesson or two about simple
courtesy. Every time my glass stood empty, even though there were
very few customers (we were there in the early afternoon), the
dreadful lass never once asked me if I wanted another. Not once.
Even though she was standing right in front of me, staring out
the window. - F.C.
East Village Bar with a huge selection of beers to choose from.
Drinks are expensive. Has
the feel of a college bar in that there should be a band playing.
Decor is pretty bland, could use some Britney Spears photos on
the wall. For the village, not bad. - A.S.

This bar made for a great time. Many different people, all in a
good mood. Drinks were great. Perfect place to meet new people. -
J.R.
Great, non-tourist West Village bar with great bartenders and nice
bathrooms. Two things you must check out while you're here -
tater-tots and the blow up doll above the entrance. - S.A.
The bartenders are some of the best in the
city. Sorry the blow-up doll has been replaced by a second
television. - A.P.
Great place to come with a group of friends and start the night. The bartenders and hot & efficient.
Definitely worth going to. - G.C.

Comments - Danny Boy's is a great neighborhood bar and restaurant. Great food, reasonably priced. Great Irish Breakfast on weekends with homemade
brown bread. The regular menu ranges from terrific burgers all the way to prime
steaks, chops, seafood and poultry. Serving lunch, brunch, and dinner seven days a week. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The dining area is spacious with an outdoor garden for food or drinks where smoking is legally permitted. The bar area is cozy, the drinks are good and the bartenders lots of fun. There are a couple of televisions for sports, a great juke box and occasionally, live music. Parties and catering are a specialty. The decor is charming with some antique Irish artifacts. Check out the Irish Press from 1916 with reports of the GPO rising.
With relatively new construction, the bathrooms are immaculate. - T.R.
An excellent, friendly neighborhood bar. The food was great, generous portions,
courteous service. The bathrooms were very clean. On one of the few sunny days we've had recently I sat in their outdoor section which is a nice change of pace. I
recommend Danny Boy's whole heartedly. - C.C.

Comments - This is a bar/restaurant/cabaret located on Restaurant Row. They present some highly rated acts. The bar area features low played music, a piano, and low ceilings with fans. The show room in the rear has many cocktail tables. The prices are somewhat expensive and the service is decent. It seems to draw mostly tourists and theatergoers of all ages.
The bathrooms are more than adequate. If you like the performer(s) that night, you'll have a good time. If not, you'll be bored.

A very comfortable bar. The staff is friendly, drinks are fairly cheap, decent jukebox and a pool table where even a bad player like me had a good time and made new friends.
I personally love going there after work because it had none of the lame Times

- Very
friendly modern bar off the beaten path on York Ave. Two TVs
for watching games, good pub grub menu & very nice staff.

Great beer selection, good food, friendly staff, lots of
regulars; come early, can sometimes be morgue-like quiet late at
night. - E.D.
Great place, especially if you have a taste for beer. Thirty on
tap to choose from, not to mention the bottled kind (a whole menu
of those). The food ain't too shabby either. Upper East Side bar with friendly bartenders who make
you feel welcome. Check them out for yourself, they are a really good
time. - M.R.
Excellent place for a fantastic tasting burger and pretty much any style of beer you may want. The big screen is great during any game, and its cool to have darts on slow nights. Bartenders are really cool, and this place has become a habit for me. The Monday Night Buffalo wing special and The Tuesday night two-for-1 on domestic draught beer is as generous a special as I have seen. -
K.D.
Huge beer selection, the best I have seen in New York. The bartender was really helpful too and the food was good. You mentioned bathroom? This one was exceptionally clean. Since I live on the Upper East Side now, this has become my favorite place. - S.M.C.

I went to Deacon Brodie's late on a Saturday afternoon and it was just opening.
We had a small group of people and had a blast hanging out. Great juke box. It filled up pretty quickly but the crowd was an easy-going, friendly bunch. Great time. -

I was looking for a bar close to my hotel that would be a good escape from the madness of NY. A bar with more regulars than
tourists. I found it at Deacon Brodie's. If your looking for a small pub with great service and good tap beer look no further. I felt like I was at my neighborhood tavern back home. I went to some great places on my long weekend in NYC and the memories and laughs I had at Brodie's are the best. -
J.S.
Formerly the Streetcar Café, this quaint, rustic-looking Restaurant Row establishment still makes you feel like you' not in Manhattan. The music is played low. It almost seems like somebody's living room. Bartender Liam is very friendly and efficient. The clientele seemed pretty good and it didn't seem to get very crowded. The prices are reasonable. The bathrooms are one-at-a-time. -
T.K.
What can I say, this place is my "local". After 14 years in this city, I finally found a place where I feel comfortable. This is the kind of pub where the bartender remembers your name and what you drink the second time you come in -- and introduces you to everybody else in the place. Where a chick can sit by herself & have a pint and not be bothered by anyone. Well, unless she wants to be. :-) If they had food I'd probably never leave. Hope they don't get food. - M.N.

- Tiny
Upper West Side bar that is a shrine to, yup, dead poets. Photos
and quotes on the wall pay homage to Joyce, Whitman, Tennyson,
etc. Look for the backward quote that can only be read through
the bar's mirror. The Dead Poets opened in August 2000 in the
former "Snug", which was aptly named due to its size.
The front of the bar has only enough room for the serious
drinkers that belly up like patrons at a truck-stop diner. The
back area has a pool table that barely fits in the room, so you
must use the tiny pool cues for some of your side shots. It also
boasts bookshelves with an excellent collection of old books, if
you want to read the works of some dead...well, you know... -
S.M.
The Dead Poets is a very quaint, up and coming bar with very kind
bartenders and staff. On certain days it has 3 beautiful sisters
bartending at the same time. - K.G.G.
Although a very tiny bar,
this place is big on atmosphere. New and clean, with great decor,
pictures, and quotes of actual dead poets! Also has a good
jukebox and a pool table in the back. Not much room back
there though, so don't bring an entourage to your pool
tournament. - J.M.
Guinness served at a perfect 5-7 degrees Celsius poured in two
stages to produce a perfect head complete with shamrock.
Service was a perfect 10. Warm and friendly staff and
patrons. Good time. -T.B.
The atmosphere is welcoming and the bartenders are fun and always
happy! Despite it's small size it is a great time. - A.V.G.
Nice bar trying to attract newer customers - S.B.
Can't get a more original name or theme than The Dead Poet.
Perfect pints of Guinness poured with a shamrock on top in this Irish Bar. Great pub atmosphere to hang with your friends and
listen to one of the best jukeboxes in the city! - E.K.D.
Small, narrow, quaint bar with a high ceiling. The clientele is a
step above that of the neighboring bars. Tunes are OK. Pool table
in rear (lack of space makes playing difficult). Book shelves.
Quotes from (and pictures of) dead poets are on the walls.
Friendly and efficient bartenders. Reasonable prices. Bathrooms are one-at-a-time. - T.K.

Nifty place in the Theater District that is both saloon and Cajun restaurant. Has a warm, neighborhood feel to it, but can get crowded before the shows. They get pretty picky about giving out tables then, too. Last time we were there they wouldn't seat two of us at a larger table, saying they were saving them for the "theater rush". Two of the larger tables sat empty throughout our meal and remained empty as we left.
But it's got a nice feel to it and some of the dishes are worth a try. A friend thinks they have the best mac & cheese he's ever had. I like their lobster puffs (with that oh so spicy sauce) and their duck salad. Beers are cold and the waiters are friendly enough. -

This is
a Cajun bar/restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. It features several TVs, low-played music, a metallic bar-top, brick walls, high-top
bar tables, a low ceiling with fans, and miscellaneous Louisiana
decor. It seems to draw a mixed (all ages) clientele. Space is a
little tight. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly and efficient. The drink
special is a "Cajun Martini". There is live music on

Cozy, booklined Irish Pub with pool table

- Homage
to Admiral Dewey located blocks from the Flatiron Building, hence
the name. (Dewey is also the nickname of one of the owners). Has
lead a Madison Square/Flatiron area revival since its opening in
97. Two level bar with a candle lit lounge, bar and pool
table upstairs, and a happening bar scene with bar food
downstairs. Good service from the bartenders, especially if
you're female and theyre trying to pick you up. Friendly
waitresses, too. - S.M.
Fine selection of tap beers, including Boddington's, good pub
grub and attentive bartenders and wait staff. Pay attention to
the detailed restoration, including the vaulted brick ceilings
and other early 1900's architecture and artifacts. - M.M.
If you can't have fun here,
you've got a problem. This place is great! 2 floors,
pool table, big TV, large beer selection, tasty food, and never a
bathroom line. What could be better?!! - J.M.
A bar lady telling me I have an attitude, what the f*ck!? Who
has? Giving me mouth like that. By the way, a beer is far
too expensive at this place. So beware! (especially for the lady
behind the bar..) - K.v.P.
This very popular (very crowded) two-floor bar draws a
twentysomething and thirtysomething clientele. Very dark, it
features several TVs, loud music, a long bar downstairs and a
small bar upstairs, a steep metallic staircase, a pool table
upstairs, a pub menu, a dining area downstairs, and a lounge area
upstairs. The prices are somewhat expensive. Getting the bartenders' attention can be a challenge. The bathrooms are adequate. T.K.

well looked after, were well fed and got pretty drunk...What more
do you need? - M.M.

Nice little place, except for that time these redneck
construction workers were allowed to drink for six hours without
being cut off, called me and my coworkers fags when we arrived,
started a fight by head-butting my boss as he tried to leave and
then picking a fight with the cops when they finally arrived
(finally because the attractive yet inexperienced barmaids stood
watching and rolling their eyes instead of calling the cops while
the manager stood the whole thing out in the back pissing himself
instead of gaining control of his own bar). Other than that it
was great. - A.S.
I was actually there the night of the aforementioned fight.
Someone ruined my wife's dress by getting blood all over it. The
management was completely unable to control the behavior of the
construction crew. I would recommend that you go there only if
you want to start or be in fights. It's not a family type place. P.S. The last time I passed by this place, some drunk customer was
urinating all over the street. - D.N.

C'mon the word Dive is in it's name. I went here
for a birthday party and was greeted at the door by a 16 year old
bouncer which made me think I had traveled back in time to the
Dinkins-Era of law enforcement, which being that I was under age
back then, wasn't a bad thing. The bar decor was crap and the
crowd was a mix of the under-aged and the over-aged with little of
anyone in between. The bar made me think I was looking at the
beginning and end of my drinking career and nearly lead me to
stop drinking all together. "Nearly"! Donna the
bartender was a nice person and very assertive. She was good
enough to tell me and my pal The Pretender that more cute girls
would be there around midnight. I thought she was stroking us and
I was sort of wrong. Many cute girls showed up by midnight most
of them were 16-19. If that's your thing, then have at it, I
guess. (Wow!! That sounds socially irresponsible, sorry.) I'm 27
and it's not mine, so Donna, who was easily in her mid thirties
or older, started looking good. Beer, the great equalizer. The
Pretender got me out of there before I could do anything wrong
and this is why friends don't let friends drink alone. - T.S.

Girls all over the place just looking to take you home with them. If you didn't have a house down the shore this summer, I suggest you get one next year. It's nice when you can walk into a bar in a tank top, shorts & hat instead of shoes, pants & a button down.

- New bar located right in the heart of Midtown. The layout of the bar is a bit odd as it used to be a hub for mail sorting and courier service. They worked hard to make the bar into an area that would attract a good
after work crowd. The crowd is trendy and successful and like to spend their money accordingly. It is a bit pricey but the staff makes up for it with their friendliness. Worth a stop solely for the bathrooms. By far some of the nicest bar/lounge bathrooms in Manhattan. -

Village haven for unpretentious, good old southern fun. Check
your attitude at the door, grab a Pabst Blue Ribbon (in a
can!) and shoot some pool on their red table. Doc's has a
good, southern-influenced juke box and a Ms. Pac-Man. When the
mood strikes, the bartenders (and occasionally patrons) will do a
two-step on the bar. Yee-ha! - S.M.
A little beat up looking on the outside, but once you go in,
you'll find quite the party in here. Pool table, great music, and
wild bartenders who dance on the bar. - J.M.
The place is boring and nasty but the people are nice. - M.M.
I go to a lot of the saloons in town and I was glad for Doc's
when they won your poll. It
is a nice place to bend an elbow. The beer is cold. The girls are
warm. It is a friedly place to hang without the bull that you run
into in a lot of the bars that attract the tourists and posers.
Docs has a great jukebox. And Val and Johanna keep your glass
full and always make you feel at home. - J.dR.
Remember when they kicked all the bums out of Tompkins Square?
This is where they wound up. A real hole. Dingy and beat.
Real live local scumbags everywhere drinking PBR, playing pool,
listening to the crankiest assholes classic country music has to
offer (often at a volume that challenges conversation). Towards
the weekends the kiddies interfere with the atmosphere, but I
wouldn't worry too much about this place turning into some sort
of hotspot. Service is great, Drinks are cheap, the atmosphere is
fairly spirited, hovering somewhere between not-so-steely resolve
and toxified intensity. And, in the men's, punch Norm MacDonald's
TV show ad over the urinal in the face and it'll talk to you.
Overall: friendly, social, a great place.- S.G.
10+
kinds of bottled beer served at Doc's. There are not a lot of
fights at this bar at all...it's a very friendly crowd and the
bouncers "squash" potential fights before anything goes
down. Doc's is totally worthy of the title "Best
Saloon" because of the STAFF, the JUKEBOX, and the LOYAL
customers. Anyone with bad things to say should take a good look in the mirror
and take a cold shower to shock themselves out of their UPTIGHT ways!!!! -J.L.
Fun bar in the East Village with much personality. Friendly, fun
and talented bartenders (you should see these girls clog!) make
it worth the trip. And Ms. Pac Man and pool offer fun diversions
while you drink yourself silly. - S.A.
Don't miss out on the $5 dollar all you can drink Busch on
Tuesday nights. The service here is excellent, and the local
red-neck drunks and NYU students definitely make for some
interesting conversation. I recommend this place to anyone who
wants to have a good time. Kudos for Docs!!!! - D.W.
This is my favorite bar on Avenue A. The girls behind the bar are
the best suds slingers on the East Side. The jukebox is stocked
with Johnny, Hank, Merle, Waylon, & Willie. The people are a
good mix. The party goes on 'till 4am. The buy backs come early
and often. And if you can't have a good time here, you don't have
a pulse. But they have got to re-open the kitchen. This was the
first bar I ever went to that had snake-burgers on the menu.
Turns out the cook's name was Snake. - P.G.

east side Irish bar, with very good Guinness, and friendly
bartenders who immediately make you feel welcome. It has a
backyard deck and sidewalk seating in warm weather, with a pool
table downstairs. Live traditional Irish entertainment Sunday
nights. Kitchen serves late night food Thursday through
Saturday, and a Sunday morning Irish breakfast. - S.M.
Love this slice of Mayo &
Galway. As an Irishmen it gives off a good vibe. Plenty of
friendly lads, great service, and sweet women. You can dance in
the back, yap in the front, but you will have fun either way. A
great spring time bar if it is nice out - front windows open up
to the sidewalk - keeping it nice an cool on those busy Thursday,
Friday and Saturday nights. - SB
Fantastic Irish bar, and one of my favorite bars in NYC. Great atmosphere, great people, with no pretensions, which is a nice respite from many of the other watering holes calling the
Upper East Side home. Great bartenders who are really friendly, and quick with the buybacks. The owner is one of the bartenders at night, and it tells you a lot about a bar when the owner cares enough to be there (unlike a lot of those other UES "scenes" owned by absentee-yuppie-Wall St-group of friends who only care about the $$ the bar makes). Great Irish music on Sunday nights, and a great jukebox as well (Plenty of U2, and if you play some, wait till you see what happens!). Good pick-up scene, but also great for a couple drinks with friends, or even by yourself. Bonus - in warm weather, has a great backyard patio for dining and drinking. -
J.R.
By far, this friendly pub is one of the best pick up bars for the 25-40 year old set on the Upper East Side. Men will find a diverse mix of friendly "keg-queens", and hard-drinking yuppie girls from the neighborhood. Women will find plenty of single cops and firemen, standing beside clean cut lawyers and Wall street-types. All have fun in a relaxing
atmosphere. - J.D.

This bay-front indoor/outdoor bar &restaurant (known
as a place to watch a sunset), draws a considerably more upscale
clientele than the clubs down the road at Tiana Beach (Summers,
Neptune, Drift Inn). While Saturdays can be overwhelming crowded,
Sunday nights are very popular (early in the evening). It's known
for it's seafood menu. The prices are rather expensive. The staff
seems to be young and inexperienced. The musical acts are pretty
good (especially Hollywood). The bathrooms are adequate. - T.K.
If you are into food that is overpriced and pretentious people, this is the place for you.

friendly old style bar off Second Avenue. Two TV's for watching
games, great jukebox, great pub grub menu (try the shepherds pie,
delicious). Great beer selection and very efficient and friendly
staff. Check it out! - S.T.
Formerly 'Stingers' and 'Taboo', the bar area is about five steps
above ground level. It tends to get very crowded. The dining area
(in the rear) is on ground level. Good thirtysomething crowd.
Pictures of Ireland on the walls. Reasonable prices ($4 for a
bottle of Coors Light). Friendly and efficient Irish bartenders.
Live Irish/American music on certain nights. The bathrooms are in
the basement. - T.K.
One of the best Irish pubs around. Over 6 TV's to watch your
sports, a dart board, and one of the best bartenders around is
what keeps bringing me back. Not to mention the food. From pasta
to burgers, everything has been good-great every time. -J.F.
This is my absolute favorite bar. The staff is super friendly and wonderfully efficient.
The food is terrific every time. I sometimes go there just for dinner, even if I don't plan on drinking much.
I've heard that they have a pretty good lunch crowd. The drinks are always reasonably priced, and during happy hour, there are especially good deals.
It gets a little crowded after work at the end of the week, but otherwise, you're sure to find an available stool. - H.J.
This bar is the best bar on the east side. The food is great and the bartenders are very
friendly. They show all the NFL games on a big 10 ft. screen. Sundays are the best for football because for 20 bucks you get unlimited draft beer, screwdrivers and bloody
Mary's. Plus there is a free hot buffet at half time, you can't beat it. - J.C.

Whether you are at the original in Woodside or it's sister in
Bayside, one thing is for certain...you will not find a better
burger anywhere else in the city (and at $5 not a cheaper one
either). Great old time Irish feel, yet still able to
encompass the eclectic tastes of New Yorkers. The prices
are more than reasonable and the service is great. For an
added treat, take a ride on the saddle bar stools in the tap room
bar! - B.F.
What a great place!!! The ambience is nice, dark & comfy. There is a big long bar in the front & a little bar in the back that resembles a mini English pub. The food prices here cannot be beat. Whether you are having one of their
scrumptious burgers or one of the daily specials like pot roast you won't be let down. The drink prices are also very reasonable. It's the kind of place where you can hang out with your friends or take your parents to dinner.

exactly what the city is missing. It's like a hidden treasure.
Great atmosphere in here, you walk in and feel like your home.
Can't get a better burger in the tri-state area for the price. $5
for an unbelievable burger and dishes like the fresh ham, Shepard's pie, and hot open roast beef never miss. Get an order
of baked clams as well there only $3 buck for 4 big clams.
Donovan's is the place to stop before a Met game for a bite and a couple of pints. Jump off the 7 train or LIRR at Woodside and
it's 3 blocks away. When the Mets are in the playoffs, the place
is has an electric feel. Any other time it's a great place for
lunch or dinner at 1970 prices. Or sit back at the bar and have a
few pints, the people couldn't be nicer. You can't get this stuff
in NYC. - R.T.
Excellent place to have some beer and food
before a Met game. Bartenders are friendly and always buy back.
Most of the wait staff are very friendly, although, some of the
help could be friendlier sometimes. There is a separate room for
parties. Decor is neat, but very 70's with lots of dark wood, but
it adds to the experience. Get an Irish coffee, it's the best
I've ever had. And, try the turkey dinner, you won't be
disappointed. Beware of the raisins in the stuffing. Bathroom is
more than adequate. - D.R.

- Really
fun, young crowd and still crowded and hopping by 3am. - E.O.
A young Yorkville hangout,
that unfortunately became famous for being the place where, back
in the 80s, Jennifer Levin had her last drink, thanks to
the despicable preppy murderer. Later recovered
its reputation and became a favorite hang-out of Yankee & nightlife legend David Wells. While Upper East Side bars
come and go, Dorrian's has been around since 1960. People still
line-up on weekend nights to get in, as it remains a neighborhood
hot spot. Serves food, and has open air windows in the
summertime. Also has a large screen TV and back room. -
S.M.
Dorrians is a very cool bar on the upper east side. I went while
on holiday with my girlfriend, we could have stayed for a week at
the place. It was rockin at the weekends. I spotted plenty
of good looking girls and my girlfriend thought the bartender was
a real sweetie. He attended to our every beck and call. Fantastic
place with a rocky history, I hear, but worth a visit all the
same. Watch though, you may not see the rest of the city if you
go on your first night. Oh, and a great burger. -N.N.
I went to Dorrians when I was visiting in October with my
friend who knew the owner. The place had a hell of an atmosphere.
We sat with the owner for a bit and that brightened up our day.
The bar itself is draped in history from the pictures on the wall
of the old horse races to having authentic red hand stain glass
window, the whole place summed up New York for me. It was a sheer
joy to be in and hell, the food was great and you can buy
t-shirts. It was damn busy during the subway series. The bar
seems to be a legend on its own. People I have met in all
countries of the world, as far as Australia, have been and all
raved about the hamburgers. - P.S.
The bartender when we went was the owner's son, and a great guy.
Made us feel right at home and gave us buybacks. A real
gentleman. Everything about this place is fantastic, except the
people that go there. The girls are all snobby, Upper East Side,
"don't talk to me if your not a lawyer" chicks. The
guys are all stuffy Wall Street types whose Mommy and Daddy
still pay for their $1500 month studio on 86th St. If you're a
young guy looking to pick up some girls, you would be better
suited not going there. It is probably a lot better during off
hours when the typical Manhattan snobs are not around. - J.R.
No matter what night you go out, Dorrian's is always a fun place
to go. The music is great, and the people are real friendly. Just
remember to wear signature "Dorrian's attire" of Ralph
Lauren and Burberry's. - M.K.
The all out definition of growing up on the upper east side. J.
Crew, Banana Republic, private school, etc, etc...Any negative
comments from this place are from people who have not gotten the
"rite of passage" rather they stick to the
"dive" spots in order to claim that they look better
than majority of the customers. Everyone inside is dressed as if
they looted Bloomingdale's. Music that is played reminds you of
the time you were growing up during the 80's and when Roxanne is
played everyone chugs down a beer fast. Former lacrosse players
in high school and college meet up to talk about past records
while doing Jager shots trying to attract the attention of a
table full of pretty Smith College grads who work at Sotheby's.
As for anyone who went to St. David's...this place is notorious.
Then again majority of the crowd is St. David's alumni...just
like Robert Chambers. - V.R.
Saturday night - cutest bartender ever by the name of Brian - It
is worth the trip uptown just for him! - D.S.
This bar is the best bar on the East Side. Always guaranteed a
good time! Always good looking, smart guys who actually have
some class and respect. I will go there time and time again. -
M.F.
It is always great to come home and go meet up at Dorrian's. The
staff remember you, the food is great and there is always
something going on. While some say it is the upper east side
yuppies you want to stay away from, this is our local bar where
we can all catch up after a long week or living abroad. It's not
worth standing outside waiting to get in on the weekends but it
has the best jukebox ever. -S.S.
Two words: Brat Pack. The quintessential St. Elmo's experience. If
you liked this classic 80's movie you will love this bar. Always
a good time, and if you like the pastel shirts and blazers this
will be a good time. Talk about boarding school, lax, or your
small liberal arts college. - K.L.
Being from Long Island, Dorrian's is truly a breath of fresh air. Out on the Island, any bars you go to are full of guys who wear more
jewelry than the girls. The crowd at Dorrian's is great, everyone that I have encountered, have been well educated, well dressed, and so much fun. The place is always packed, and in the winter months on nights where there is a bit more intimate crowd, there is a great fire in the hearth. There really is not a bad thing to say about Dorrian's, except if you are a guy you may have to wait on line for a bit, unless
you were a cub scout with Jimmy. - J.M.
Ghetto thug bouncers welcome you at the door. Not exactly the best way to impress your patrons. Good crowd, lousy bartenders. Bathrooms are
dens. - J.R.
The absolute best place in town. Atmosphere and service, those are the most important characteristics after a stressful day. Great bartenders, waitresses, bouncers, music and food and friendly management. Watch out though you may lose your soul if you spend too much time there. At first it seems like a tough crowd but after you spend enough time there you'll find that it becomes the only place that you can pick-up in the city - its a mental thing, but at least you don't have to spend money buying bottles and paying
entrance fees anymore - and you still see plenty of celebs there. Wear a collar to get in and get
absolutely wasted- you'll see what I mean. - J.C.
Jimmy Dorrian is such a cutie - makes a trip to the bar completely worth it! - R.S.

probably miss this downstairs bar if you walk by too fast, but
it's a good spot if you're in the neighborhood. The crowd

Dark basement bar. Really really crowded on a Friday night,
impossible to fight through the crowd to get a drink or go to the
bathroom. They had a cool hip hop DJ spinning tunes to a preppy

thought they were cool for listening to hip hop. Could be really

Greenwich Village basement hang-out on West 4th St. Dont
walk by too quickly, or youll miss the entrance. Atomic
wings and pitchers of beer are the order of the day here for the
lively young crowd. Pinball and foosball provide the
entertainment. Come early if you want a table, but this place is
not for the claustrophobic. Same owners as Gin Mill, Jake's

Great lively bar with a diverse crowd. Great specials, and the
bartenders are awesome. Good late night place to go with great
music. Total meet market with some pretty hot girls - J.D.
This is the epitome of a good
time in New York with a young crowd of creative lesbian seekers
and people just looking for the last free sex on the planet. I
recommend Marcus for your bartender, I've never met a funnier
guy. And have a slappy shark attack. M.H.
I have been going to this dump since I was 15 when you could get
it with "Medical Alert" ID. May not look like it at
first, but this place is the best. Unreal specials for NYC,
diverse crowd including lots of hot little NYU chicks who don't
mind talking to guys with chicken wings caught in their teeth.
Plenty of fatties for all you pig stabbers as well. Just put a 20
on the bar and the bartenders hook it up nicely with tons of
buyback shots and beers. Bathroom used to be a great place for
jokes written on the wall, but has since been painted over. Good
tunes, mostly alternative and rap. My favorite place to get
retarded without breaking the bank. I love it so much, I now live
under the adjacent stairwell. - J.M.
I have tried, but it is impossible to leave this place sober. Try
it out on Saturday afternoon. Incredible beer and wing special. -
M.T.
My cousin and I went to Down the Hatch once and it wasn't worth
all the hype. Well, that is, unless you're going to gorge on
their famous "wings." But if you're like us, and go out
to have a fun time rather than eat and rub up against sweaty men,
I would only recommend the place to start off. The drinks were
really cheap and pretty strong. Probably one of the best places
in the Village to get drunk fast. Just make sure you know where
you're going afterwards or you'll end up like we did. - M.B.
Happy Hour and Saturday's are the best ways to get the most bang for your buck. The decor is a little cheesy but they make up for it with great specials. - C.D.
Always have a good time here...can get very crowded...there aren't too many places to sit, but if you get there early you'll have some luck...great place to go after work to grab the drink specials and the food (great wings, chicken fingers,
nachos)...foosball and a few
TVs around the place. The music is okay, but overall it is a fun little place to go to. - J.P.

Located on Dune Road across from Neptune's and Summers, Drift Inn
is another big summer bar, located on what amounts to a dock on
the edge of the bay. You can literally piss off of the back deck
onto bay. As much space outdoors (if not more) as indoors. Dress
is minimal. Shorts and T's. Tunes are top 40 and frat rock. The
decor is as pretty as a tackle shop but made for the big drinking
crowd. Most people are too drunk to care about the service. Can
take a while to get a drink at times. Bathroom is not bad but
always a line. -K.H.
The DJ rocks the house! Great place to hang outside or dance
inside to 70's and 80's favorites. The staff is usually just as
bombed as the patrons. No fights and no Guidos make this
place the best kept secret in the Hamptons. - J.W.
This place is by far the most fun bar I have ever set foot in.
Every summer we go every Saturday night and each week it gets
even better. People dancing on the bar is a nightly occurrence and
I myself have witnessed naked bar slides. If you like a crazy no
hold barred atmosphere this is the place for you. Everyone is
there to have fun and flirt with the opposite sex. I've never met
anyone I didn't like here!! - M.H.
This place is located across from Tiana Beach (that in itself
makes it rather scenic). The clientele is a little better than
Summers and Neptune. They come here to have fun, not to pick
fights. The prices are reasonable (watch for drink specials). It
gets very crowded and this can make accessibility to the bar
difficult. The bathrooms are pretty bad. Any veterans of this
area know that this was the home of the Irish pub 'Cat Ballou' -
which was my favorite bar ever - anywhere. The Irishness is gone.
The crowd now seems to be a mixture of young, fun-loving NYC
visitors and Long Islanders. There is a wrap-around bar which can
be reached from the inside or the front deck. The inside is open
(no window panes). The back deck has been missing for ten years.
Most of us either remember or have been told about the night that
it collapsed with a load of patrons aboard. That was "The
day the music died". - T.K.
Best Hamptons bar. Sometimes tough to get a drink...it helps to know a bartender. Usually a long line to get in. Everyone is jammed in like cattle. Arguably the worst bathrooms on the planet, especially the co-ed bathrooms on the deck outside...harder for girls because guys can just piss over the rail outside. Great music, lots of dancing. If you can't hook up here, kill yourself.

I thought the environment of this place was a bit
freaky--claustrophobic and dark. The crowd was an agreeable mix
of mostly young and hip men (meaning the ratios for girls are
great). - K.W.
Nice to hang out with friends or meet people. The DJs spinning
